Job Description : Position Summary

Manage a team of 10-15 drafting staff providing a specialised drafting service for the implementation of all civil and structural works for major engineering projects (Roads; Rail; Mining and Water Projects).

Responsibilities / Objectives

• Responsible for managing and providing a specialised drafting service for major engineering projects and be accountable for the delivery of design documentations to high technical standards and on time and budget
• Engagement and supervision of contract drafting staff to ensure staffing levels meet project demands and liaise with management and engineering staff from other service groups to resolve time delivery deadlines and prioririties.
• Checking of the team’s productivity by the review of drawings to ensure compliance with the relevant codes, standards, Quality Assurance requirements and URS drafting practices
• Attention to accurate detailed designs and commitment to quality are essential;
• Enforce the implementation of quality and design management systems all through the projects;
• Commitment to delivery of projects documentation on time and budget is essential;
• Calculate estimated time for work completion
• Maintain documentation records and proper filing of the soft copies of generated deliverables in the system network/project directory in accordance with URS standards

The successful applicant will be required to:

• Manage design documentation packages and undertake technical work associated with road, rail; mining and water infrastructure
• Monitoring of staffing levels and arranging for additional contract drafting staff as required assisting the group in meeting project schedules
• Coordinate and liaise with the designers and project managers;
• Involvement with the programming aspects of engineering projects to make efficient use of resources and work schedules for future projects with regard to planning and implementation.
• Assist with preparation of design tenders and proposals;
• Participate in workgroup technical activities;
• Support project teams in achieving stated goals
