Description Job Summary Transport crews, perform janitorial service and general rail yard office duties. Primary Activities and Responsibilities * Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) * Complete various rail yard office duties including manual and electronic data processing * Transport crews * Inspect cars located on track for correct positioning * Perform janitorial service as needed * Communicate by radio, telephone, intercom, computer or other communication devices Pay Rate Entry Rate USD 152.37/day* Full Rate USD 179.27/day* varies by location/assignment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED * 18 years of age or older * Valid Drivers License * Computer literate * Type 25-50 average net words per minute depending on assignment Basic Competencies * Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical) * Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions) * Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills) * Basic math Physical Requirements * Medium work, depending on location, ability to lift up to 50 pounds * Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb Employment Conditions * Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries * Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses * Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work * Complete annual safety testing requirements * Must pass all required assessments * Must pass a background screening * Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including drug test, and possibly a physical capabilities test based on work location * This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement, membership is required Environmental Conditions Work outside in all weather conditions and occasionally on uneven terrain Safety Commitment Safety is a way of life at CSX, encompassing every aspect of company operations.
