Description:

The Lead Construction Engineer/Supervising Field Engineer will be responsible for the supervision of a team of field engineers in their construction oversight role on a major design-build guideway contract within the USD 5.4 billion Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project.

Serving on the staff of the General Engineering Consultant (GEC), the position will report to the Contract Manager. Responsibilities will include the following:

* Supervise and coordinate the activities of multiple field engineers, independent test lab, and other entities working in different locations on construction of the guideway. Assure that field engineers perform their work in a consistent manner in accordance with GEC procedures.
* Serve as primary GEC point of contact for design-build contractor’s project field superintendent.
* Serve as primary GEC point of contact for field activities with supporting services and client.
* Assist field engineers in problem resolution.
* Conduct field meetings as applicable.
* Review and approve field engineer daily observation reports.
* Keep Contract Manager apprised of field progress and issues.
* Organize and oversee quality assurance inspections and verification testing.
* Review design-build contractor progress payment estimates for completion of field activities.
* Participate in Substantial Completion Inspections.
* Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* Engineering or construction management degree preferred.
* Experience in the construction of underground utilities, large diameter drilled shafts, large diameter concrete piers and segmental precast bridge construction is required. Additional experience in balanced cantilever construction, miscellaneous civil structures and track work construction is preferred.
* Large project experience. Rail experience is a plus.
* Quality assurance or quality control experience.
* Strong communication and people skills.
* Computer literate and familiar with data base systems.
* Team player.
