Job Summary:
Implements labor relations processes related to input from CSX Transportation (CSXT) internal customers and the labor organization. Prepares managements position in disputes involving interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) through analyzing the CBA rules and citing the appropriate precedent. Identifies problems, searches for solutions, and makes recommendations to management and labor/union officials in development, application, and interpretation of labor relations agreements.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
•Manage labor relations processes related to input from CSXT internal customers and the labor organization.
•Prepare management position in disputes involving interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) through analyzing the CBA rules and practices citing appropriate precedent.
•Identify problems, search for solutions, and make recommendations to management and labor/union officials in development, application, and interpretation of labor relations agreements.
•Negotiate claim settlements.
•Assist in the preparation of arbitration briefs, prepare summary and analysis, and make recommendations in discipline cases, present oral arguments at arbitration, and conduct research on labor agreements and prior National Railway Adjustment Board (NRAB) decisions.
•Provide advice and counsel to line supervisors and participate/conduct training and communication sessions.
•Develop and present oral arguments and written responses to claims and discipline cases, as well as prepare consolidation and transfer notices.
•Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
•High School diploma/GED or Associates degree required
•More than 3 years of experience required in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, or Labor Relations
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree required
•1 or more years of experience required in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, or Labor Relations
Knowledge and Skills:

•Negotiation skills
•Railroad industry knowledge
•Consulting skills
•Microsoft Office skills
•Written and oral communication skills
•Knowledge of Railway Labor Act
•Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
•Knowledge of CBAs
•Ability to make fact based decisions
•Knowledge of claim handling procedures
•Knowledge of CSX Labor Claims Automated Claims Tracking System (ACTS)
•Mainframe systems skills

Job Requirements:
•Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek.
•10% travel required.
•The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.
