Job Description

Primary Job Responsibilities

Jacobs Transportation Group has an immediate opening in Atlanta, GA for a Senior Transit Planner to lead and asist with growing transit planning practice.

Position Responsibilities

Senior Transit Planner is a lead contributor to transportation planning, land use, and management consulting projects. Coordinates with numerous business partners with responsibilities for administrative and business development matters including review and approval of invoices, client relations, project budget development and adherence, and technical marketing presentations.

The Senior Transit Planner responsibilities and job activities include:

· development and documentation of analyses supporting the development of corridor, route and service alternatives for current transit operations and future transportation projects.
· author and develop technical reports based on project analyses and assessments.
· developing complex spreadsheet and database tools for accurate and comprehensive analyses.
· employ geomapping techniques to provide effective visual content for compelling technical reports.
· track and research industry trends and activities.
· supervise and manage data survey collection, tabulation and analysis.
· check and validate models, forecasts and valuations.
· lead project meetings with clients, public officials, engineers, planners and transportation system users.
· work may also involve pedestrian, bicycle, bus, intercity passenger and freight rail, water transportation, GIS, land use and other related assignments, depending on need and your skills and interests.
· perform other duties as required to support transportation planning and management consulting practice.

Training and Experience

* a minimum of ten years experience in transit planning
* bachelor’s degree Civil Engineer or Urban Planning with major coursework in city, regional, urban planning or a related field.
* travel may be required on occasion to support client projects (less than 20%).
* experience with computer modeling, quantitative analysis and technical writing is required
* Prefer PE and or AICP
