Description:

Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) is in need of a senior rail and transit engineer to support a variety of projects. The candidate will become a member of PB’s growing rail and transit group based in Chicago, Illinois. This is a good opportunity to work on a variety of transit, passenger rail, and freight rail projects including feasibility studies, station development, and preliminary and final engineering. A key area of responsibility will be coordination of design and support documentation for intercity rail, high speed rail, and transit preliminary engineering initiatives. In particular, a need exists for a leader for the consideration of grade crossing issues for the Midwest’s leaded high speed rail program. The candidate must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of standard engineering/planning and rail/transit industry-specific principles and practices. Candidate must have transit or rail experience, and be capable of making decisions on significant engineering problems and issues.

This position will support a wide variety of projects, including those for Illinois DOT, Ohio DOT, Metra, CTA, and numerous others throughout the Central United States.

Major Duties:

* Manage engineering and planning tasks for rail and transit projects
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships
* Pursuit planning, relationship development, and business development
* Plan, organize and coordinate staff and activities for a project of large size and complexity
* Manage tasks as assigned
* Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s degree in engineering or planning
* Minimum 12 years of rail industry experience
* Experience with freight, commuter, and intercity rail projects
* Rail project management experience
* Computer literate
* Demonstrated verbal/oral skills
* Strong technical writing ability
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
* Quality Control / Quality Assurance experience
* Task management experience
* Professional registration preferred
* Ability to work in this country immediately required
