Job Description
Description: Apply specialized engineering training and experience to perform engineering analysis, planning, management and design for bridge structure projects. Perform routine assignments that are clearly defined and require the application of standard structural engineering techniques and procedures. Assist engineers and drafters on current railroad and highway bridge design and prepare basic sketches and calculations in support of design activities. Participate in field visits and inspections; gather and record information to be used for writing specifications and preparing design drawings; and prepare technical reports. Coordinate design activities with other disciplines and work within budgets and schedules. Review vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications. Restore passenger service on an existing freight line which requires designing new spans for an additional track and rehabilitating or widening existing structures. Design a new highway bridge over a railroad yard to eliminate a grade crossing and to improve traffic flow between to major arteries. Requirements: This position requires a Masters degree in Civil Engineering as well as 2 years experience as a Structural Engineer including experience with designing & analyzing structural systems using LRFD/LFD/ASD/AREMA codes for new construction or rehabilitation. Must have experience with AASHTO, AREMA, STAAD, LARSA, and Microstation. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
