Job Description: Recently purchased by an international engineering firm, URS, Systemwide is a highly regarded specialised consultancy providing strategic and operational advice to private corporations and public sector agencies on diverse aspects of railway planning and management throughout Australia. Systemwide continues to have a reputation for delivering high-quality insight supported by detailed analysis. Some exciting projects we have recently completed for our clients include: • Developing long-term transport strategies for South East Queensland for the Queensland Government and playing a vital role in the design of a new landmark, city-changing underground rail link through Brisbane. • Advising mining companies on new strategies to haul coal and iron ore and using sophisticated modelling to understand the capacity of their entire supply chain. • Evaluating various long-term plans for the Sydney rail network and investigating how a new high-tech signalling system could improve the capacity of that network. • Providing rail planning, strategy and advisory services for a private consortium in their successful bid to operate Melbournes metropolitan rail franchise for the next 15 years As the firm is continuing to grow, we have opportunities for new consultants. Responsibilities/Objectives Your role will more specifically involve: • being part of a team to service the market lines; • assistance with multi-disciplined transport studies; • assisting and undertaking data collation, analysis and technical related modelling exercises; • being trained/mentored by more experienced staff; • assistance with tenders and proposals; • participating in workgroup initiatives including business development and technical activities; and • generally supporting project teams in achieving stated goals. Additionally, while your position has been confirmed as above, from time to time you may be required to perform other related duties, provided that they are consistent with your skills, competencies and expertise.
